The Fifth Day of Kaleidoscopes ala Paula Nadelstern – Dancing Feet

Joen Wolfrom | November 16, 2009

Welcome to the fifth day of our Twelve Days of Kaleidoscopes tour!  The intricacy of this design proves that Dancing Feet is a very apropos name for this kaleidoscopic design. The curving, looping “footwork” of the wintry green and violet are exquisite as they move around the outer design. The soft gold lines standing in triplicate punctuate the intricacy in the outer dark rim of this beautiful design.

The Fourth Day of Kaleidoscopes ala Paula Nadelstern – Cheddar Cheese

Joen Wolfrom | November 15, 2009

Cheddar cheese never looked so delicious as it does in Paula’s kaleidoscopic design Cheddar Cheese, which is Today’s stop on our Twelve Days of Kaleidoscopes tour.  The beautiful cheddar design is captivated by its partnering with traces of aqua blue, violet, and deep cheddar. This rich design shows beautiful movement as the colors and shapes flow fluidly throughout the design.

The Third Day of Kaleidoscopes ala Paula Nadelstern – White Wreath

Joen Wolfrom | November 14, 2009

As part of the Twelve Days of Kaleidoscopes, today we are looking at Paula’s White Wreath, which is breathtaking with its turquoise star vibrating and seemingly enveloping into a dahlia-like curved beauty. Beyond the wreath, curved periwinkle shapes glow delicately over raspberry-shaped clusters of tiny ribbon-like objects set off by flickers of lime green.

Joen Wolfrom | November 13, 2009

As part of the Twelve Days of Kaleidoscopes, today we are looking at Paula’s Turquoise and Lime Wave print features the hues of the tropical seas in its outer border. Its curves resonate a rhythmic beauty that resembles waves moving to shore. The inner design is fluid and appears to be moving toward the outer wave.

Paula Nadelstern’s Exhibition Kaleidoscope Blocks Now Available in Limited Edition Fine Art Prints

Joen Wolfrom | November 12, 2009

Paula Nadelstern’s awesome exhibition KALEIDOSCOPE QUILTS: The Art of Paula Nadelstern at the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City earlier this year was a smashing success. People from all over the world were amazed and excited by Paula’s extraordinary quilts. Thousands of quilters from throughout our country and Canada came to New York City specifically to view this exhibit. Paula’s exhibit illustrated clearly to all who attended that quilts are not merely a craft; they can be a formidable art form too. This landmark exhibit was particularly poignant for Paula, a New York City native, as she is the first quilt artist to be invited to have a solo exhibit in this prestigious NYC museum. (What an extraordinary honor, Paula. Way to go!)

In celebration of this exhibit, and in response to viewers who wanted to purchase a print of one of her kaleidoscope quilts for their homes or offices, Paula has had her 12 kaleidoscopic block designs from Kaleidoscopic XXXIV: The Never Ending Kaleidoscopebeautifully reproduced into Giclée fine art prints. Each 20” square kaleidoscopic design is offered in a limited edition of 100 signed copies. These collector’s fine art prints are $200 each. They are a perfect gift for Christmas or Hanukkah for the special quilter or art lover in your life ( or just a gift for yourself).

We at JWD are celebrating Paula’s creative kaleidoscopic genius and her fine art print editions by featuring The Twelve Days of Kaleidoscopes ala Paula Nadelstern.  Enjoy each day’s special kaleidoscope design. (And be certain to purchase your favorite one before the print edition runs out.)

If you are interested in viewing the collection in a larger format, learning more, or purchasing one of these fine art prints, go to http://www.paulanadelstern.com/kaleidoscopes/index.php.
